It’s the first time I tried using monochrome to express the beauty and purity of lotus. Shot in 2015.
Almost all my works of Lotus Project in 2015 are monochrome, and it became a certain way for me to shoot this subject in the next years.
2015 was a productive year for me, not only in the Lotus Project but also in other subjects, and I had a great upgrade of my photographing skill.
In 2016, I still used monochrome to shoot lotus, but I tried an advanced skill - using bokeh as composition elements.
To be creative is a motto of me, I’ve created lots of lotus works since 2012 and don’t want to see them showing the same face, so in 2017 I tried the surrealism.
To be honest, I don’t remember how I created them…
2018, I focused on depression. Till now, this photo on tumblr has gained over 26500 notes, I don’t know why.
I love using monochrome to express this emotion.
It’s very hard to shoot lotus creatively year and year, the year 2019 was a plateau for me, I tried to seek some break through.
Jump out of your comfort zone, many photography masters say the same saying. I didn’t know how to do exactly at that time, it was a jam period for me. This work is an try.
The ripples on the calm water surface enhanced the tranquil moody, even can hear the sound of rain drops falling on the water. 2020, my project has two forks, one is - Zen.
Like An Untied Boat (身如不系舟) comes from Caigentan ( 《菜根谭》 ) , it expresses an Tao’s life attitude, of course, it will cost you much time to understand it.
Since 2017, I’ve begun to focus on those flowers which missed easily by ordinary photographers, they are imperfect, depressed, withered… I use the experiences gotten from these years shooting lotus to reconstruct a world of my Lotus Project.
It appears in Gallery - Abstract. Yes, I developed an unique style of my own in 2020, that’s what I said - Break Through, and it’s the second fork of my Lotus Project this year.
